New York - Falling shares among some titans of US industry dragged the broader stock market lower on Thursday.Le azioni di General Motors e Ford crollano dopo che l'agenza di rating Standard & Poor’s ha ridotto il merito creditizio di entrambi i giganti automobilistici al livello di SPAZZATURA (junk). Il Dow Jones Industrial Average ha perso lo 0.4%, chiudendo a 10,340.45. L'S&P 500 è sceso dello 0.3% (1,172.63) e il Nasdaq Composite è sceso leggermente (1,961.80).
Shares in General Motors were off 5.9 per cent to $30.86. Ford, GM’s chief rival, fell 4.5 per cent to $9.70. The long-anticipated cuts to the debt ratings came a day after Kirk Kerkorian, the billionaire financier, said he would double his stake in GM, sending GM shares up 18.1 per cent on Wednesday.
